My Top 5 GitHub Projects

An overview of my top 5 GitHub projects, showcasing what I’ve built and how they’ve helped me grow as a developer.

My Top 5 GitHub Projects

Over the years, I've built several projects that have challenged me to solve real-world problems with technology. From blockchain and digital assets to payments and financial services, these projects have helped me grow as a developer and sharpen my approach to building scalable systems.

Here are five of my top GitHub projects.

1. Crypto Multichain Service

One of my most interesting projects is a multichain cryptocurrency service designed to support multiple blockchain networks and digital assets from a single platform.

The project focuses on handling different networks, wallets, deposits, withdrawals, transactions, and crypto conversions while keeping the architecture flexible enough to add new chains.

Working on this project gave me the opportunity to explore blockchain infrastructure, wallet management, transaction processing, and designing services that can work across different blockchain ecosystems.

2. Gift Card Exchange

The Gift Card Exchange project is focused on buying, selling, and exchanging gift cards through a centralized platform.

One of the interesting challenges was integrating external gift-card providers while maintaining a consistent experience within the application. The project also involves handling card information, transactions, pricing, validation, and exchange workflows.

It was a great project for learning more about third-party API integrations and building reliable transaction-based systems.

3. Utility Payment Service

The Utility Payment Service brings everyday services such as airtime, data, electricity, cable TV, and other digital utilities into one platform.

A major focus of the project was building a provider-independent architecture. Instead of tightly coupling the application to one provider, different providers can be integrated behind a common service layer.

This approach makes it easier to switch providers, add new services, handle failures, and maintain consistent transaction and wallet logic.

4. Virtual Account Service

The Virtual Account Service focuses on creating and managing virtual bank accounts for users.

The system handles account creation, payment collection, transaction tracking, reconciliation, and integration with external financial service providers.

This project particularly strengthened my understanding of financial APIs, webhooks, asynchronous processing, transaction reconciliation, and the importance of idempotency when dealing with payment systems.

5. Referral Program

The Referral Program is designed to reward users for bringing new customers to a platform.

The system tracks referral relationships, qualifying activities, rewards, and referral transactions while ensuring that rewards are calculated and issued correctly.

Although it may appear simpler than some of the other projects on this list, referral systems introduce interesting challenges around attribution, preventing abuse, reward calculations, and maintaining accurate records.

Conclusion

These five projects represent some of the areas I enjoy working on most: fintech, payments, blockchain, APIs, and scalable backend systems. Each project presented different technical challenges, but they all taught me the same important lesson: building production-ready software is not just about making something work. It's about designing systems that are secure, reliable, maintainable, and capable of growing with the product. I'm looking forward to continuing to build, experiment, and share more of that journey through GitHub.
